Your Stock Can Save a Life

There are many ways to help a dog. One of them may already be sitting in your investment account.

Hugs For Harry can now accept donations of publicly traded stock directly into our charitable brokerage account.

For people who own appreciated stock, donating shares directly can be a meaningful—and potentially tax-efficient—way to help provide veterinary care, food, medications, shelter and everything else our dogs need while they wait for the home that's right for them.

Why Donate Stock Instead of Cash?

If you own stock that has increased in value, particularly stock you've held for more than one year, donating the shares directly to Hugs For Harry may offer tax advantages compared with selling the stock yourself and donating the cash.

Depending on your individual circumstances, you may be able to:

Avoid capital gains tax on the donated shares.

Receive a charitable deduction based on the fair market value of eligible appreciated securities.

Put more of your investment directly toward helping dogs who need us.

And you don't have to donate an entire holding. You can choose the number of shares you would like to give.

What Your Stock Becomes at Hugs

To us, a stock donation isn't a number on a brokerage statement.

It becomes an emergency veterinary visit.

A surgery we couldn't postpone.

Medication for a senior dog.

Food, clean bedding and a safe place to sleep.

It gives us the ability to say yes when a dog needs help and there isn't anywhere else for that dog to go.

Every gift helps us continue doing what Hugs For Harry was created to do: give senior, disabled and at-risk dogs another chance.

A Gift That Can Change a Dog's Life

Some of the dogs who come to Hugs need very little.

Others arrive needing thousands of dollars in veterinary care before we even know what their future will look like.

Your gift of stock gives us something extraordinarily important—the ability to help when a dog needs us.

Turn your investment into veterinary care, safety and another chance for a dog who needs one.
