Can you imagine what it feels like to lose the one person who meant the world to you… and then lose the only home you’ve ever known? To be left wandering, confused, starved and heartbroken?
Hi, I’m senior doggo Mikey and not long ago, my whole world shattered. My dad—the only family I ever had—passed away. After that, I was no longer welcome in the home we shared. Still, I waited… for days… for weeks… curled up nearby, hoping someone would open the door and welcome me back. But no one ever did.
The neighbors noticed me. They gave me food and water. They were kind—but they knew I needed more - I needed a new family and home to call my own. Eventually, they contacted the shelter, thinking it would help. But the shelter was overflowing with puppies and younger dogs, and there was no space or hope for someone like me.
After all, who would want an old dog like me, eh? So things for worse for me and I ended up on the shelter euthanasia list. Sigh.
But just when it seemed like my story was coming to heartbreaking end…someone contacted ‘Hugs for Harry’ rescue and shared my story. And without any hesitation, they said “Yes”! So here I still am—not just alive…but loved, nurtured, cherished…because someone believed I was worth saving.
Now, I’m searching for a second chance—at love, at life, and at finding a place to finally call home again. I still have so much love left to give, and I’m hoping someone out there will see past my age and look at good boy I’ve always been.
Here’s a little more about me. I’m a gentle, sweet and affectionate 10-year-old Lab mix, weighing around 80lbs. I’m a gentle soul who adores giving kisses and snuggles and simply following my people around. I get along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes, love a good car ride, and enjoy short, easy strolls where I can take in the world around me. don’t really know how to play with toys—but that’s okay. All I really want is you.

Just recently, this precious 11-pound Shih Tzu arrived at Hugs for Harry after an owner surrender. What we discovered was heartbreaking.
Chewey was severely matted, the tangled fur so tight it had cut off circulation in one of his little legs. His tiny toenails were ingrown,
causing him immense pain, and raw, tender sores covered his body where the matted hair had pulled at his skin. 😔
Can you imagine the discomfort and neglect this sweet boy endured?
But Chewey's spirit? Unbreakable. ❤️
Since coming to Hugs for Harry, Chewey has received the care he so desperately needed. He's been lovingly groomed, neutered, and is finally free from the pain that plagued him. And guess what? Underneath all that matted fur is the most amazing, sweet soul you could ever hope to meet!

And here's a truly heartwarming part of Picachu’s story: we rescued this precious boy just one hour before he was scheduled to be euthanized. Can you believe it? This little bundle of joy was so close to not having a chance to share his love with the world. Now, he's ready for his happy ever after!
Picachu is fantastic with children and gets along wonderfully with most dogs (we'd say about 9 out of 10!). He might occasionally show some reactivity towards certain dogs, so a patient and understanding adopter who can continue to help him navigate these interactions would be ideal.
We truly believe Picachu would make an incredible family dog, bringing endless love, fun, and companionship. Imagine all the happy tail wags and snuggle sessions!
