Join Us in Changing the Lives of Dogs Who Have Nowhere Else to Go
At Hugs For Harry, some dogs stay for a season.
Others stay for life.
All are family.
Hugs For Harry was created for the dogs who are most often overlooked — the seniors, the fragile, and those who arrive carrying the weight of everything they’ve been through.
We believe rescue is not only about finding homes, but about creating a place where dogs can feel safe, understood, and cared for with patience and dignity. Some of the dogs who come to us will move on to loving families. Others will remain with us, having found their place here.
In either case, our commitment is the same: to offer each dog a calm, loving, thoughtful environment where they can rest, recover, and simply be.

Director of Rescue Operations
Lead with presence. Care with intention. Build something that matters.
At Hugs For Harry, this role is not about managing from a distance. It is about showing up—fully, consistently, and with heart.
We are looking for a Director of Rescue Operations who will stand at the center of our daily work: guiding the rhythm of the rescue, caring for the dogs alongside the team, and ensuring that every life in our care is treated with patience, dignity, and compassion.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will not be removed from the work—you will be in it.
The Role
You will be responsible for the day-to-day flow of the rescue—working directly with dogs, staff, and volunteers to create a calm, structured, and safe environment.
From the quiet routines that help a fearful dog feel secure…to the fast decisions required in moments of urgency…your presence will shape the experience of every animal in our care.
You will work closely with our nonprofit leadership to ensure that our mission is lived—not just stated—and that the rescue continues to build a strong, trusted reputation within the community.
What This Looks Like Day to Day
Being physically present on-site, actively engaged in daily operations
Working directly with the dogs—feeding, walking, observing, and responding to their needs
Supporting and guiding staff and volunteers through hands-on leadership
Maintaining structure, cleanliness, and a low-stress environment for the dogs
Stepping in wherever needed—no task is “beneath” this role
Monitoring health, behavior, and group dynamics with attention and care
Coordinating the daily flow of the rescue, including transitions and special care needs
Ensuring that every action reflects the standards and values of the organization
Who You Are
You are someone who leads by example.
You are calm, capable, and steady—even when the day becomes unpredictable— which may happen often.
You notice the small things—because with animals, the small things matter.
You take initiative, but you also understand the importance of consistency and structure.
Most importantly, you believe deeply in this work.
You understand that many of our dogs come from trauma, neglect, sadness or uncertainty—and that trust is something earned slowly, through patience and presence.
The Reality
This role is physically active and emotionally involved.
It requires resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to step into whatever the day asks of you.
But it also offers something rare:
The chance to be part of real transformation.
To help a frightened dog feel safe.
To be part of the moment their life begins again.
Our Commitment
At Hugs For Harry, we are building something meaningful—rooted in compassion, integrity, and respect for every animal that comes into our care.
We are looking for someone who wants to grow with us, help shape our future, and uphold the standard of care and reputation we are building in the community.
