Meet Hiccup: Left for Dead, Now Clinging to Hope

Some rescue stories are harder to tell — but they matter most.
This is the story of Hiccup.

They found Hiccup broken and alone, lying on the side of the road after being struck by a car and left to die. He couldn’t move. His small body had been crushed by the impact, his pelvis fractured, and worse — he had suffered permanent neurological damage to his brain. But perhaps most heartbreaking of all, Hiccup’s condition made it painfully clear that this wasn’t the first time he’d been hurt. He was severely malnourished, was covered in ticks, and the look in his eyes told us he had known nothing but fear, hunger, cruelty, and pain.

And yet… he survived.

When we brought Hiccup into our care, he didn’t growl or flinch. Instead, he nestled into our arms with a fragile trust that shattered us. He was grateful. Somehow, despite the cruelty he endured, his spirit remained soft and open. Hiccup is one of the sweetest souls we’ve ever met with a tail that won’t stop wagging with happiness— and he is soaking up every ounce of compassion and safety he’s finally receiving.

He’s currently on medication to manage his pain, and we’re doing everything we can to help his body heal. He’s beginning to respond — slowly but surely — and our veterinarians are hopeful. Though his brain damage is permanent, there is still quality of life ahead for Hiccup — with the right care, patience, and love.

🐾 Hiccup Needs a Hero

Will you be the one to walk this journey with him? We are seeking:

💛 A Sponsor for One Year
Hiccup’s road to recovery will be long and delicate. Sponsoring him for a year means helping cover his medical care, rehabilitation, special nutrition, and eventual mobility support. Your support will not only heal his body — it will affirm to him that people can be kind, gentle, and good.

💛 A Future Foster Home
When his pelvis is stable and he’s ready to take his next step, we’ll be searching for a quiet, loving foster home — someone with a big heart and a calm environment where Hiccup can continue to heal emotionally and physically.

🌟 Why Hiccup’s Life Matters

  • He’s suffered enough. Now he needs peace, comfort, and care.

  • He still believes in people — and we owe him the same unwavering love.

  • With the right support, Hiccup will know happiness, safety, and affection for the rest of his life.

Every time Hiccup looks at us with those soft, tired eyes, we promise him: You’re safe now. We won’t let you be forgotten.”

Will you help us keep that promise?🐾
