Chewey
Meet Chewey — A Little Dog Looking for a Lot of Love
This is Chewey.
He’s about 11 pounds of sweetness wrapped in soft fur and quiet resilience. Chewey came to us recently after being surrendered by his former owner, and what we found when he arrived… well, it broke our hearts.
His coat was so matted it had cut off circulation to one of his little legs. His toenails had curled inward from neglect, digging painfully into his skin. His body was covered in raw patches where the fur had pulled and tugged until it tore. It doesn’t take much imagination to understand the pain he lived in — not just physically, but in the quiet kind of way animals suffer when no one is listening.
But here’s the thing about Chewey: even after all of that, he still trusted us.
There is something remarkable about a being who has been hurt and still leans in. Chewey leaned in.
He let us care for him — gently, slowly. He was bathed and shaved and treated and held. He’s now neutered, healing, and feeling safe again. And oh, what a lovely little soul was hiding under all that hurt. He's got these big, wise eyes that seem to say, “I’m still here. I still want love.”
Chewey is only 3 years old. That means he still has so many walks to take, so many naps to share, so many quiet mornings curled up beside someone kind. He doesn’t need a palace — just a place to feel safe, a lap to rest in, and a human or two who see him for the miracle he is.
He’d do best in a home that’s calm and soft — like him. Somewhere he can continue to heal, be cherished, and never feel forgotten again.
We know we can’t undo Chewey’s past, but we can rewrite his future. If you're someone who believes in second chances, in quiet redemption stories, and in the healing power of love — maybe you’re exactly who he’s been waiting for.
If you’d like to meet Chewey, or just talk to us about whether you might be a good fit, we’d love to hear from you. And if now’s not the right time for you, sharing his story might just help his forever person find him.
Let’s show Chewey what love that lasts really looks like.
